Kano State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Kano State, Musa Abdullahi Lawan has cleared House of Representatives majority leader, Alhassan Doguwa of any wrong doing in the alleged death of some persons in Kano State during the recently held general elections.
After perusing the submissions against Doguwa, the Attorney-General said there were no substantial evidence to link him with the electoral violence that swept through his country home, reportedly resulting in the death of 15 New Nigeria People’s Party supporters.
Justice Lawan’s position was disclosed to journalists in a press briefing that was held in his Abuja office today.
Lawan said, “We are of the opinion that we cannot substantiate charges of criminal conspiracy, mischief by fire and culpable homicide against Ado Doguwa.”
The outgoing commissioner for justice said : “The statement of those that implicated him were full of contradictions. And apart from their contradictory statements, we could not find medical evidence to prove that the death of the deceased persons was caused by Alhassan Ado Doguwa.”
