Hon Tajudeen Abbas has emerged as the Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives.
The preferred candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Abbas emerged as Speaker after defeating two other contestants for the race, the immediate past Deputy Speaker, Hon Ahmed Wase, and Hon Aminu Jaji.
He polled 353 out of the 359 votes cast.
Before the election on the floor of the House, the Clerk announced that 359 lawmakers out of 360 were present for the election.
The open ballot system was adopted for the election.
