Dani Alves, arguably the greatest right back of this generation, could be sentenced to 12 years in prison for an alleged sexual assault at a nightclub in Barcelona on December 20th, 2022.

The Brazilian’s trail has been scheduled between October and November 2023.

According to Marca.com, the three time champions league winner was arrested and detained since January 20, 2023, following an accusation of sexual assault by a 23year old woman who he allegedly assaulted in a toilet at the renowned Sutton Club.

Pumas, the Mexican side he was playing for at the time has since terminated his contract, and he is currently in pre-trial detention without bail.

Alves before his arrest claimed that he had never met his accuser, in a TV interview, but later changed his stances has he stated after his arrest and subsequent detention that there was an agreement and no form of assault occured.

Marca.com also revealed that the 40 years old has reportedly received a request for divorce from his current wife, Joana Sanz, through his lawyer.

The reason for the divorce according to the outlet is not due to whether or not the footballer is guilty, but because he has acknowledged the infidelity.

Alves could potentially get a sentence of six to twelve years if found guilty.
