Delta State Government (DTSG) has attributed the success of the conduct of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) to effective preparation by the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education in the state.

The Permanent Secretary (PS) in the ministry, Mr. Augustine Oghoro, stated this while monitoring the conduct of the BECE in some parts of the state.

Oghoro expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the examination, saying it was hitch free, devoid of irregularities.

He explained that materials for the examination were adequate in all the centres across the state, adding that officials of the ministry were deployed to the examination centres to ensure its smooth conduct in the state.

Oghoro advised students to embrace reading culture, maintaining that the performance of every student in an examination depended largely on the commitment of such a student to academic activities.

Conducting the PS round the examination hall at the West End Mixed Secondary School in Asaba, a teacher, Mr. Oduye Patrick Ngozi, appreciated the PS for the visit, describing it as a welcome development.

At the Central Senatorial District, where the Director of Examinations and Standard in the ministry, Mr. Sunday Egomagwuna, monitored, it was recorded that materials arrived examination centres on time and the examination went on smoothly as scheduled.

Examination centres monitored by the PS and his team included Anglican Girls Grammar School (AGGS) in Asaba, where a number of students from several private schools wrote the examination; Unity Secondary School in the state capital territory, and the West End Mixed Secondary School, Asaba, among others.
