Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) and the state Environmental Taskforce (DSETF) have advised against improper waste disposal and the building of shanties and makeshift structures at the Koka Flyover and Interchange in Asaba.

The Acting Director General of the agency, Mr. Vincent Ohwofadjeke, stated this during a sensitization exercise, organized by DSCTDA and DSETF in Asaba.

He said that the essence of the exercise was to advocate a cleaner environment, adding that “it is disheartening to see major roads being converted to illegal markets and motor parks in the capital city.”

He emphasized the need to desist from building shanties and makeshift structures and to dispose of refuse appropriately to prevent the spread of diseases.

He warned that the Delta State Government (DTSG) would not compromise any act that may derail environmental sustainability in the state.

Earlier, the Director of Delta State Environmental Tasks Force, Mrs. Ikechi Amaraegbu, said that the state government had given necessary directives to ensure that public spaces, including roads, markets, parks, and other parts of the capital territory, were cleaned up and properly maintained to sustain environmental sanity in the area.
