Edo State House of Assembly on Friday passed a bill for a law to provide for the consolidation of property and land-based charges and make provision for the levying and collection of Land Use Charge in the state.

The House during plenary repealed the Land Use Charge Law 2012 and the Land Use Charge (Consolidation) Amendment 2019 before passing the Land Use Charge Bill.

The House also passed a bill for a law to establish the St.Titus College of Health Sciences and Technology.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun, congratulated the new leadership of the National Youth Council (NYC), Edo Chapter, and charged them to aspire to be part of governance in the country.

Onobun gave the charge when he received the new leadership of the council, led by the newly elected chairman, Comrade Moses Aguinede, in his office in Benin City.

He noted that with the passage of the Not Too Young To Run Act, the youths now have an added advantage to be part of governance.

He urged the youth leadership to examine the pros and cons of the removal of subsidy with a view to educating the people and engaging government where necessary so that the people can feel the impact of the council.

Earlier, the state NYC chairman, Aguinede said they were in the Speaker’s office to thank the House leadership for the role it played in the resolution of the crisis in the youth council.

Aguinede said the visit was also to introduce the new leadership of the NYC to the House.
