The Edo Renaissance Forum has commended the State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki for reinventing sports in the State, congratulating the governor and state-owned football club, Bendel Insurance Football Club on the historic Federation Cup final victory.

Bendel Insurance defeated Rangers International Football Club with 1-0 scoreline via a penalty kick converted by Imade Osarenkhoe, in the finals of the Federation Cup played in Asaba, Delta State.

In a statement signed by its convener, Victor Omorogbe, the group said Governor Obaseki’s interventionist reforms in Edo State have continued to yield positive results across all sectors, including the club’s recent triumph, winning the 2023 edition of the NFF Tingo Federation Cup.

The statement reads: “We, members of the Edo Renaissance Forum, congratulate Your Excellency, Governor Godwin Obaseki, the Executive Governor of Edo State, and Bendel Insurance Football Club on their historic Federation Cup final victory.

They further noted, “Even though you have been working silently, your reinvention and transformation can be seen across critical sectors of the state. You have transformed the public service, health, education, agriculture, energy, and power sectors, and now sports.

“We sincerely thank Your Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State Sports Commission, the players and management of Bendel Insurance, and all those who have contributed to this great achievement.”

The statement added, “We are confident that with Your Excellency’s support, our boys will bring home more laurels this season and many more successes in the years to come.”
