In a relentless action to take development to communities and provide affordable Housing in Edo State, the Edo State Government, through Edo State Development and Property Corporation (ESDPC), has handed over a new site to Orange Estate Land Developer Nigeria Limited. This Joint Venture Partnership is for the development of blocks of flats in the Iguovbiobo Community along the Benin-Auchi Road, Uhunmwonde LGA, Edo State.

Speaking during the handing over of the site to the Developer, the Managing Director of Edo State Development and Property Corporation (ESDPC), Mr. John Zedomi, expressed delight about the development of the Estate and called on Orange Land Developer to swiftly execute the project, which is in line with Governor Godwin Obaseki’s policy of Infrastructure Development and the agenda of Making Edo Great Again.

He added that the estate would comprise 1-bedroom, 2-Bedrooms and 3-Bedrooms flats which will serve as an opportunity for home ownership and sustainable investment for potential purchasers.

The Managing Director of ESDPC said, “This proposed beautiful residential housing estate for low and medium-income earners would have complementary facilities like CCTV, Water Supply, Roads, Central Sewage System, an Office Complex and regular power supply.”

Responding, the Project Manager of Orange Estate Land Developer Nigeria Limited, Engr. Prince Etumnu, who described the site as excellent and accessible, said visiting it was to take it over for Orange Land Developers officially.

The Project Manager who spoke on behalf of Orange Estate Land Developer said his company is happy to partner with Edo State Development and Property Corporation (ESDPC) to provide affordable housing in Edo State.

According to him, “We are very ready. We have been given a 30-day period to get all the documentation prepared. Our Architectural and Engineering drawings are almost ready. This will help us prepare our Bill of Quantities (BOQ), do our programme of works, and bring them to the Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban and Regional Development for approval. Then we will do all other documentation like signing the Joint Venture Agreement and then go ahead and start construction”, Engr. Etumnu said.

“Based on our capacity and previous records, we were selected to develop this Estate. We have done even bigger Estates in Abuja and other places, and we are sure that is what was seen that earned us this partnership, as our records always speak for us,” Engr. Etumnu concluded.

Speaking on behalf of the community, the Secretary of the Iguovbiobo Community, Comrade Silver Daudu, expressed gratitude and appreciation to Edo State Government for bringing the Estate to the community.

Comrade Daudu said the project would hasten development in the surging community because Iguovbiobo, about a 15-minute drive from the centre of Benin City, needs development.

“We are therefore pleased to receive this Estate in the Iguovbiobo community, and I think it is a yardstick for government to come and do more in our community.

“One major thing we are suffering now is Electricity Transformer and epileptic power supply. We only have one that the community bought, and that one cannot feed the whole community. Presently, the same Transformer serves Idumwinye, Ugboko and other neighbouring communities, and the voltage is very low.

“We, therefore, appeal to the Edo State Government to provide more social infrastructure for our very receptive and peaceful community as we do not have any conflict within and between our neighbouring communities,” Comrade Daudu concluded.
