According to ESPN, Luka Modric has signed an extra one-year contraction extension to keep him at Real Madrid until June 2024, as announced by the Club on Monday.
Modric’s previous contract is due to expire later this week, and reports from journalist Fabrizio Romano are that Modric received one of the biggest salary proposals ever in football from Saudi, but decided to stay at the Bernabeu as He has not failed to express his desire to remain with the Los Balancos.
The Ballon d’or winner joined Madrid in 2012 and has stayed 11years winning 21 trophies so far with the Spanish Club.
The Croatian is faced with more competition for playing time next season with youngsters such as Camavinga, Touichamini, Cellablus and the most recent addition Jude Bellingham.
Carol Ancelotti, the Madrid Head Coach says older players will get fewer minutes next season in other to give the younger players more playing time as reported by Fannation Futbol, but it is expected that more experienced midfielders like Modric and his 11 years midfield partner, Toni Kross, will teach the younger ones from their wealth of experience.
Toni Kross also signed a one year contract extension earlier June.
