In a telling blow to the insurgent group, Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) component of Operation Hadin Kai reportedly launched a successful airstrike, resulting in the elimination of numerous insurgents in the Borno region.

Counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, which focuses on the Lake Chad area, revealed that the operation took place on Monday in the Andakar, Musari, and Klabariya areas of Marte LGA in Borno state.

The insurgents, who had previously escaped NAF airstrikes in Jubularam, Kwalaram, and Sabon Tumbu, were targeted, based on intelligence indicating their convergence for a meeting in Marte.

A military source, quoted by Zagazola Makama, disclosed that the attack followed a series of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions that confirmed the dense presence of terrorists scattered across the settlements.

As the aircraft approached the target area in Andakar, several ISWAP members were observed attempting to flee. Responding swiftly, the aircraft launched a devastating attack, achieving a direct hit on the designated location. This resulted in the neutralization of several terrorists, the destruction of their vehicles, and the disruption of their logistical operations, the source revealed.

The latest airstrikes by the NAF in collaboration with ground forces serve as a testament to the relentless efforts to dismantle ISWAP’s operational capabilities and safeguard the security of the region.
