Nigeria’s newly appointed Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Major General Christopher Musa, has emphasised the military’s unwavering determination to aggressively pursue terrorists, bandits, and other criminals.

During the official handover ceremony in Abuja, General Musa declared, “There should be no doubt about our commitment to restoring peace in Nigeria. Anyone, especially criminals, bandits, and terrorists who think otherwise, should prepare to face the consequences.”

He affirmed that under his leadership, the military would spare no effort in ensuring the security of Nigeria.

“As the CDS, I promise to enhance our mission of upholding peace and tranquility in our nation. I assure every Nigerian that our armed forces are highly professional, and their priority is the safety and well-being of our citizens. We will act with full force to protect and secure the people,” General Musa stated.

Appointed by President Bola Tinubu, General Musa also expressed his commitment to prioritising the welfare of military personnel. He emphasized that providing proper care and support to soldiers would enable them to perform at their best.

“A well-fed and well-cared-for soldier will give their utmost dedication,” he added.

General Lucky Irabor, the former defence chief, urged General Musa to uphold the esteemed values and professional standards of the military. He commended President Tinubu for choosing a highly suitable successor and urged General Musa to redouble his efforts in maintaining these cherished principles.

With the appointment of General Musa, Nigeria’s armed forces are poised to intensify their efforts in combating criminal elements and safeguarding the nation’s security.
