The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State on Tuesday nominated the member representing Ovia North East 1, Hon. Charity Aiguobarueghian, as Majority Leader of the State House of Assembly.

The party also nominated the member representing Egor, Hon. Natasha Osawaru, as the Deputy Leader, while the member representing Akoko-Edo 1, Hon.Yekini Idaiye, was made the Chief Whip of the House.

The nomination of the principal officers was contained in a letter signed by the state chairman of PDP, Tony Aziegbemi, and read on the floor of the House by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku.

The Speaker in his capacity also nominated the member representing Igueben, Hon. Ojei Inegbebor, and member representing Esan South East, Mr Sunny Ojiezele as co-opted members of Principal Officers Council (POC) of the Assembly.

Rt. Hon. Agbebaku also informed the House of two letters from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Labour Party (LP) in the state in respect of who becomes the House Minority Leader.

He, however, said he could not read the letter immediately.

“My honourable colleagues, I cannot read the two letters now because of some controversies which we need to address,” he said.

Meanwhile, a bill for a law to enact the Edo State College of Health Sciences Technology passed first reading.
