Two suspected car snatchers who specialise in dispossessing car owners of their cars at gunpoint in Warri and environs have been apprehended by men of the Nigeria Police Force in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

As at the time of their arrest, items recovered from them were 74 vehicle tyres, 16 vehicle engines, eight gearboxes, 15 motor batteries, and two motorcycle engines as well as seven suspected stolen vehicles.

The names of the suspects were given as Phillip Ekugbe and Onome Erikefe, who both hail from Ekpan community in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.

The vehicles recovered from the suspects were four Toyota Corollas (with registration numbers AJ 638 EFR, DU 60 LSR, WWR 799 AE, and KSF 758 DC), a Toyota Carina (WW 748 SL), and an unregistered Nissan car.

Delta State Commissioner of Police, Wale Abass, confirmed the report in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe.

According to Edafe, the suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.
