A Sharia court sitting in Kaduna on Thursday sentenced popular TikTok music star and artist Crown Uzama, professionally known as Shallipopi, to two years imprisonment for internet fraud with an option of fine.

Shallipoppi and five others were charged to court by the Kaduna zonal command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a one-count case of criminal impersonation.

Among the convicted are Joel Kator, AbdulAzeez Suleiman Temidayo, Favour Chidiogo Emmanuel, John Joseph and Bethel Makuochukwu. Makuochukwu had been convicted two weeks earlier for money laundering.

The defendants all pleaded guilty to the charges against them. The presiding judge, Justice A. A. Isiaka, convicted and sentenced the defendants to two years imprisonment each with an option of fine.

The court also ordered the forfeiture of gadgets, automobiles and furniture recovered from the defendants to the Federal Government.
