The Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has implored the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) to improve players’ welfare to increase their chances of winning the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament in Cote d’ voire.

The Super Eagles manager was speaking after Nigeria sealed their qualification spot with a hard-fought 3-2 over Sierra Leone, Daily Post reports.

Nigeria booked their qualification spot with one game to spare.

The Eagles boss said, “The NFF needs to do the best by giving good conditions for my players. Super Eagles players played for Nigeria and need better conditions. NFF must work well to give better conditions to the players for good performance at the African Cup of Nations. I want to say we still have time for them to do the right thing for us to do well at AFCON.”

The manager expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance and praised them for their fighting spirit in securing a hard-fought victory against a dogged opponent.

“Our team is the best in this group, I think we did a fantastic job against a good team. I am happy with the players because it was not easy to win a game that was almost drawn in that kind of atmosphere. After 2-2, we fought again and scored a goal that put us where we should be in the group, ” Jose Peseiro stressed.

The coach further reflected on how unpredictable football is, referring to their previous match against Guinea Bissau, where Nigeria experienced a shocking defeat.

“In football, you never can tell, when Guinea Bissau came to Abuja, we could have beaten them at least 5-0, but they defeated us 1-0, that can only happen in football.”
