Suspected kidnappers have laid siege, and abducted a yet-to-be-identified person at a popular eatery along the East-West Road, leaving scores injured at Ughelli in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident which happened between 8 and 9 pm sent fear into the spine of residents, as many, on hearing gunshots, ran for safety, while those driving along the highway had to reverse their cars.
An eyewitness who craved condition of anonymity in the said area maintained that the kidnapped person was around the eatery when the suspected kidnappers attacked him.
The eyewitness added that the kidnappers were shooting sporadically and in the process injuring many people who were in the area before whisking away their victim.
A young man was reported to have been shot in both legs while some others sustained various degrees of injury.
As at the time of filling this report, the state police public relations officer, DSP Bright Edafe, could not be reached for more information.
