The Vice Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council, Honourable Solomon Mikie, has distributed school uniforms and sandals to indigent students of Iwere College in Koko.

Honourable Mikie, who carried out the gesture during an unscheduled visit to the school, said the aim was to curb the wearing of torn uniforms and slippers by some students to school.

While addressing the students, the Warri North Vice Chairman revealed that he intentionally did not inform the school authorities of his coming in order to observe adherence to some of the rules in the school.

“I have noticed that some of you wear torn uniforms to school and it does not present a good image of this college.

“Your appearance to school is paramount to your learning. Thus, wearing a good uniform to school is part of the school’s measures of building your confidence,” he noted.

He, however, commended the staff for their commitment in shaping the students to be model citizens and later joined them to discipline some erring students.

Some of the students who spoke about the visit lauded the efforts of the donor to uplifting the growth and image of his alma mater.
