Nigerians have reacted to Super Falcons’ impressive 3-2 victory over co-hosts Australia in the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Thursday at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.

Asisat Oshoala came off the bench to help Nigeria beat Australia in the FIFA Women’s World Cup Group B clash, and the Randy Waldrum side are now top of Group B ahead of the final round of group-stage matches.
The result has generated an overflow of exciting reactions, and The Nigerian Observer has compiled the best of the lot.

A Presidential candidate in the last election, Atiku Abubakar GCON joins the nation in congratulating Nigeria’s women’s football team, Super Falcons after they triumphed over the Australian team.

Atiku, in a tweet using his verified handle on Thursday, wrote, “Bravo, Super Falcons, @NGSuper_Falcons! Your remarkable victory brilliantly encapsulates what we can do as a people and a country when we work together as one.”

Mr. Godwin Obaseki, the Governor of Edo State, also commended the Super Falcons for winning the match against Australia. On his Twitter handle, he wrote, “It was a nerve-wracking end to an intriguing encounter, but our amazing @NgSuper_Falcons emerged victorious!

“Congratulations to our girls for earning a hard-fought three points against the Australian Matildas, who were the bookies’ favourite for the match.”

Obaseki also noted, “We are proud of our girls and will be rooting for them as they go for another victory in their next game against Ireland, and secure a place in the knockout phases of the Women’s World Cup.”

Rabiu Musa Kwankawaso, the former Governor of Kano state congratulates the super falcons. In a post on his official Twitter page, he tweeted “The super falcons. Let’s win more”

Austin Eguavoen, Technical Director of @Thenff and former Nigeria international, commenting on his verified Twitter account @coacheguavoen, noted, “What a result! 🇳🇬 3-2 🇦🇺 Congratulations to the Super Falcons on this victory & to the coaching staff, led by Randy Waldrum. On its official website, WeSpeakFootball writes: “What a remarkable comeback! The Super Falcons’ win saw the Nigerians move in Group B ahead of Canada who they edge on goal difference as they are equal on four points.

Group B comes to its finale on Monday, with co-hosts Australia taking on Canada and Nigeria facing already-eliminated Ireland in fixtures that will decide the two qualification spots for the last 16.
