Birthdays are a special day for everyone, whether they celebrate it or not. In our usual tradition, we present to you five Nigerian celebrities who have birthdays this week as we wish them the best on their birthdays.

Olu Jacobs

Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, known professionally as Olu Jacobs, is a Nigerian veteran actor and film executive. He has starred in several British television series and international films. He is hailed as one of the core founding fathers of Nollywood, Nigeria’s film industry.

Jacobs was trained at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, England. He has spent over 40 years in Nollywood and has appeared in uncountable number of movies, including “The Dogs of War”, “Oloibiri”, “The Third Eye”, “The Goodies”, “The Royal Hibiscus Hotel”, “1990”, “Adesuwa”, among others.

In 2007, he won the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the African Movie Academy Award and the Industry Merit Award for outstanding achievements in acting at the 2013 African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award. He is married to fellow veteran actor Joke Silva. He was born 11 July 1942 in Ogun State, Nigeria.

KDDO

Ayoola Oladapo Agboola, popularly known as KDDO and formerly as Kiddominant, is an award-winning Nigerian record producer, songwriter, and artist. He is best known for producing “Fall” by Davido, which is Afrobeats longest charting single on Billboard. Among his producing credits are “Under the Influence”, “Mama”, “Tanana”, “Like dat”, “Ogede”, and “Don’t Break my Heart”. His songs as an artist include “Fela in Versace”, “Ewallet”, and “Fire”.

In 2018, he won the producer of the year for the song “Fall” by Davido and he also has Platinum and Gold certifications for “Fela in Versace” and “Fall”.

He was born 13 July 1992 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Ayoola Oladapo Agboola (KDDO)

Osaze Odemwingie

Peter Osaze Odemwingie is a former Nigerian professional football player who played as a forward. He began his professional career in Bendel Insurance of Benin. He also played for La Louvière in Belgium, Lille in France, Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia, West Brom, Cardiff City, Stoke City, Bristol City, and Rotterdam in England, before retiring at Madura United in Indonesia. He made a total of 213 appearances scoring a total of 125 goals.

Odemwingie represented Nigeria at the Olympics level. He played for the Super Eagles when the team won silver at the 2002 Olympics. He made over 71 appearances and scored 12 goals for Nigeria.

He was born 15 July 1981 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Gift Otuwe is a Nigerian football midfielder and striker. She began her football career at Bayelsa Queens FC in Nigeria, then moved to FC Minsk in Belarus, 1207 Antalyaspor in Turkey, and Neman Grodno. She currently plays for Bobruichanka Bobruisk in the Belarusian Premier League.

Otuwe has represented the Nigerian Super Falcons. She played at the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2007 World Cup.

Obinna Metu

Joseph Obinna Metu is a Nigerian sprinter who specializes in the 100 metres. He achieved his personal best time of 10.11 seconds in 2012.

Metu has represented Nigeria at various athletic international competitions, including the 2006 World Junior Championships, 2007 All African Games, where he won the bronze and gold medals in the 200-metre race and the 4×100-metre race, respectively. He has also competed at the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games and won gold at the 4×100-metre race at the 2014 African Championships in Athletics.

He was born 12 July 1988 in Anambra State, Nigeria.
