A number of Nigerian celebrities have their birthday anniversaries this week. We bring you six of these celebrities that we have tracked.

Burna Boy

Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy, is an award-winning Nigerian singer, songwriter and record producer. He rose to stardom in 2012 after releasing ‘Like to Party’.

Amongst his impressive discography are “Ye”, “Anybody”, “Last Last”, “Dangote”, “On the Low”, “For My Hand”, and “Common Person”.

He is currently signed to Atlantic Records and Spaceship Records.

Burna won the Best World Music Album at the Grammy Awards in 2021 for his fifth studio album “Twice as tall”. He recently won the Best International Act at the 2023 Black Entertainment Awards.

He was born 2 July 1991 in Rivers State, Nigeria.

Johnny Drille

John Ighodaro, professionally known as Johnny Drille, is an award-winning Nigerian folk and alternative rock singer and songwriter. He rose to prominence with his debut single “Wait for me” in 2015. Since then, he has released “My Beautiful Love”, “Finding Efe”, “How Are You (My Friend)”, “Believe me”, amongst others. He is currently signed to music mogul Don Jazzy’s Mavins Record.

He won the Best Alternative Song at the Headies Awards for his song “Finding Efe”. He was born July 5, 1990 in Edo State, Nigeria.

Evi Edna Ogholi

Evi Edna Ogholi is a Nigerian female reggae musician and pioneer. Popularly known for her hit song “Happy Birthday” which is an anthem for birthday celebrations across Nigeria, she is regarded as Africa’s Queen of Reggae.

Amongst her songs are “No place like home”, “One Kilometer” and “Look before you cross”.

Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD)

Richard Eyimofe Evans Mofe-Damijo, popularly known as RMD, is a Nigerian actor, writer, producer, lawyer, and former journalist.

He graduated with a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin, Ekehuan Campus. He has featured in “Scores to Settle”, “Love is War”, “30 Days in Atlanta”, “The Wedding Party”, “King of Boys”, and numerous other movies.

RMD is a one-time Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State. In 2005, he won the Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards for “The Mayors”. He also won Continental Film Icon at the Exclusive Men of the Year Awards in 2022.

He was born 6 July 1961 in Delta State, Nigeria.

Michael Emenalo

Michael Emenalo is a Nigerian former professional footballer who played as a left back. He began his career at Enugu Rangers in Nigeria. He has played for Boston Terriers and San Jose Clash in USA, Racing White Daring Molenbeek in Belgium, Eintracht Trier in Germany, Notts County FC in England, UE Lleida in Spain, and Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, where he retired professionally. He also represented Nigeria’s international team, playing 14 times.

After retirement, he went on to become the director of football at Chelsea FC and AS Monaco FC. He was born 14 July 1965 in Abia State, Nigeria.

Yung6ix

Onome Onokohwomo, known by his stage name Yung6ix, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter and recording artist. He broke into the Nigerian mainstream scene with his song “Follow me” in 2014, in which he featured Wizkid. Amongst his discography is “Oh my gosh”, “Bless me”, and “For example”. He is signed to Kash Kamp and Trick Billionaire MusiQ.

He won the National Act of the Year at the Abuja Music and Meritorious Award held in 2013. He was born 8 July 1989 in Delta State, Nigeria.
