Angel Di Maria makes a return to Benfica as a free Agent after 13years of leaving the Portuguese side, sports journalist Fabrizo Romano reports.

The 35 year old who was signed by Juventus on a one year contract just last summer, from PSG as a free agent, enjoined a remarkable season with the Serie A side, at least on a personal level, scoring 4 goals and assisting same in the league and stepping up with crucial goals in the Europa league.

Though the ‘Old Lady’ finished below the Europa league spot and are heading to the Conference league the winger is regarded as one of their stand out players last season.

The Argentine was signed by Benfica from Rosario Centralin as a 19 year old in 2007 and helped the club to win the Primeira Liga, after a five year drought, also winning two Taça da Liga titles in the process.

In 2010 Real Madrid signed the tricky winger for a €24 million fee where he won the UEFA champions league and Laliga.

He was later signed by Manchester United to a then English record fee of €75.6million. The transfer proved to be a disappointment causing him to leave after just one season and moving to PSG.
