The Benin Monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Ewuare II has approved the installation of Pa. Peter Okhuomahonuyi Agbontaen as the Odionwere (head) of Utekon village in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The approval was conveyed by the Dispute Resolution Committee set up by the Palace of the Oba of Benin.

Addressing elders of Utekon, Chief Uyi Okungbowa, the Ogua of Benin, with other Palace Chiefs, including Chief Oghafua Oyeoba, the Oyeoba of Benin, declared Pa. Okhuomahonuyi, the second in command (Ozukpogieva) as the most eligible senior elder for the Odionwere position.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin, Osaigbovo Iguobaro, the Enogie (Duke) of Utekon, His Royal Highness, Eguagie Omoruyi Imasuen was mandated to bring together the contending factions for the position so as to ensure peace and development of the village forthwith.

The contention for the position of Odionwere of Utekon polarized the village into two groups of elders.
