The Principal of Okwe Secondary School, Okwe, in Oshimili South Local Government Area, Mrs. Agolokigho Omujale, has appealed to Delta State Government (DTSG) to provide science laboratories and a library for the school.
Mrs. Omujale, who made the appeal in Asaba while speaking with newsmen, said that the call had become necessary to bridge the deficiencies in the student caused by the absence of a science laboratory and library.
The principal said that she had provided some furniture for the students in the school to enable them to learn in a conducive environment, stressing that the initiative was to increase the number of the existing ones in the school.
She reminded the contractor handling the construction of the toilet facilities in the school to ensure speedy completion of the project to ease the stress teachers and students pass through whenever they were pressed, especially as the rainy season was at its peak.
Omujale described the Permanent Secretary in the Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Augustine Oghoro as an uncommon and unassuming, as well as a thoroughbred administrator, saying that his systematic efforts contributed towards the uplifting of education in the state.
The principal also lauded the Permanent Secretary of the State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), Mrs. Mabel Ekpenisi for her efforts in stabilizing the board for effective service delivery.
She said that the duo had continued to play a pivotal role in driving the education sector to greater heights, adding that they were accessible at all times.
While calling on well-meaning individuals and the private sector to complement the state government’s achievements in the school, Mrs. Omujale reiterated her unwavering determination to improve the standard of the school.
The principal, however, urged students at the school to make judicious use of the furniture and ensure that they were not destroyed and enjoined them to embrace the reading culture.
Omujale, who also admonished students to abstain from social vices in order not to jeopardize their future, appreciated the staff for their support and cooperation with her at all times.
