World No.2 and Wimbledon defending champion Novak Djokovic has defeated Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz 7_6 7_6 5_7 6_4 to reach Wimbledon quarter finals.

The game was a hotly contested affair as both players put up a serving masterclass giving nothing away on their serve.

Djokovic who is on course to equal Federer’s 8 Wimbledon titles maintained a cool head in the tie breaker to clinch the opening two set 8_6 having trailed Hurkacz 3_ 6 in the opening set and 4_5 in the second set tie breaker to extend his record of tie break win at grand slam competition to 14 wins.

With Djokovic leading the sets 2 _0, the game was postponed due to London 11pm curfew. The game eventually resume 1.30 pm on monday as both players continued to exchange serve until Hurkacz broke Djokovic serve for the first time in the eleventh game to see out the third set 7_5.

The victory was Djokovic’s 32nd consecutive win at Wimbledon and 90th overall win at the Prestigious tournament.
