Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Monday Onyeme, has assured of the commitment of the state government to collaborating with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to checkmate road carnage and enhance traffic control.

Sir Onyeme gave the assurance during the visit of the Sector Corps Commander, Delta State Command, Mr. Udeme Eshiet to the deputy governor in his office at Government House, Asaba.

The Deputy Governor said that the Delta State Government was aware of the important role of the FRSC in ensuring free flow of traffic and prevention of accidents in the state and called for strengthening of efforts between the state and the corps.

“The Federal Road Safety is a very important organ of government. And the state government has always known your importance and we are ready to collaborate with you even more than before,” he stated.

On the request made by the Sector Corps Commander on training of drivers in the Delta State Civil Service, towing vans and removal of obstruction from the roads, Sir Onyeme called for a detailed proposal to the state government.

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Delta State Command, Mr. Udeme Eshiet, who spoke earlier, assured the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori-led administration of the full support of the corps to ensure safety of roads in Delta State.

He particularly commended the immediate past Governor of the state, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for the building of a training center at Owa-Alero, the provision of towing vans and creating an enabling environment for them to operate in the state.

Mr. Eshiet, while congratulating Sir Onyeme on his victory at the polls, described him as a key player in the use of roads having been the past Chairman of Delta State Internal Revenue Service and a member of the Joint Task Force in the country.
