Delta State Primary Health Development Agency has encouraged well meaning Deltans to support advancement of Primary Healthcare (PHC) facilities in the state to improve the standard of healthcare delivery.

The Director of Planning Research and Statistics in the agency, Dr. Charles Eboka, stated this when members of the State Advocacy Team (SAT) of Civil Society in Malaria Control Immunisation and Nutrition (ACOMIN), visited him in Asaba.

Dr. Eboka noted that the impact of the body was certainly reducing mortality rate due to the malaria burden and increasing healthy living.

He disclosed that Honourable Bridget Anyafulu, who is the member representing Oshimili South Local Government Area in the Delta State House of Assembly had promised to provide land at Anwai to build more centres in Asaba and also give support
to other facilities to make agency deliver quality services.

The medical practitioner encouraged other well meaning individuals to emulate such gesture that would impact positively on the common people and promote good healthy living in the society.

The Director also disclosed that the state government had 260 PHCs under the Basic Health Care Scheme and working to increase the numbers to improve healthcare delivery in the state.

The State Programme Officer of the Civil Society Organisation, Mr. Austin Uwede, thanked the DPRS for the numerous work the agency was doing across the state and urged them to revived and consider some seemingly abandoned PHCs with consumables.

Pastor Greg Sifo, the State Chairman of ACOMIN, who led the group, expressed satisfaction with the commitment the state government had shown in implementing health related activities and promised that ACOMIN would continue to partner with the state government and relevant stakeholders in its quest to provide quality and reliable healthcare delivery in the state.
