Edo State House of Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution calling on the state government and other relevant security agencies to as a matter of urgency stop the wanton and senseless killings in the state by bringing the culprits to justice.

The adoption of the resolution was sequel to the consideration of matters of urgent public importance co-sponsored by the member representing Oredo East in the Assembly, Hon. Frank Omosigho, and five other lawmakers.

The lawmaker who condemned the senseless killings by suspected cultists, urged the state government to investigate the remote causes of the killings with a view to putting an end to it and ensuring the safety of residents of the state.

He recalled how a young man was killed last Sunday during service in his church, and another man brutally murdered the following day.

The lawmaker representing Oredo East Constituency stressed the need for urgent steps to be taken by the relevant authorities to forestall further breakdown of law and order in the state.

The House also called on the DSS to be more proactive in information gathering in order to nip crime and other security challenges in the bud before they escalate.

The speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, following adoption of the resolution, thereafter directed the clerk of the House, Mr. Omogbai Yahaya, to forward clean copies of the resolution to the relevant authorities for necessary action.
