The Edo State Government has pledged its commitment to running an inclusive government by identifying with all and sundry in making sure that every Edo citizen is catered for.
The State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, stated this in his congratulatory message to Mr. George Osawaru, a blind retired director who recently exited the State’s Civil Service.
Represented by the State’s Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., the Governor emphasised that the State Government values all the efforts and contributions George Osawaru made to the growth and development of the service in particular, and the State in general.
“Let me quickly say I am wearing two caps. First as a representative of Mr. Governor who is not around at the moment but has asked me to come and convey his congratulatory message to you, and also in my personal capacity as Head of Service,” Okungbowa said.
“Mr Governor has said all your efforts and contributions during your years in the service are highly appreciated and has sent me to convey his congratulatory message to you and wishes you well.
“I am very proud of you. In spite of your restriction, you put in your all to the benefit and growth of the Service. The entirety of the Service values your contributions and we congratulate you on your successful retirement.
“On behalf of the Governor and the entirety of the Public Service, I congratulate you and wish you well in your future endeavours,” he said.
Okungbowa also informed the retiree that even though he had left the Service, the Office of the Head of Service would remain open, for easy access and assistance in the future.
In a brief remark, Mr. Osawaru expressed his gratitude to the Head of Service for the visit. He described Okungbowa as a man of great understanding who had always identified with him and thanked the Governor for all the support and assistance rendered to him while in service.
Meanwhile, an elder statesman, Chief Mike Ehisiemen, appreciated the Governor’s delegation for the visit.
“We are full of joy to see the Head of Service. This is the entire workforce of the State. By the grace of God, you are there for us. You deemed it necessary to convey Mr. Governor’s message, and this shows that you all have our brother George Osawaru’s interest at heart,” Ehisiemen said
