Acting Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has disbanded the team of policemen attached to the Edo State Police Command who ran their vehicle over a citizen identified as Success Ehimare, in Ekpoma, Edo State.

According to a press statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, and made available via its official Twitter handle, the IGP said the step was taken to address the unprofessional conduct of the policemen and bring regularity and standardization to police operations in the area and restore public trust in the Police Force.

Adejobi said the operatives involved in the unfortunate incident are currently undergoing disciplinary charges and administrative procedures, adding that this firm action highlights the IGP’s unwavering commitment to holding officers accountable for their actions, with zero tolerance for such misconduct within Nigeria Police Force.

While urging members of the public to always cooperate with police officers in the discharge of their statutory duties, the Police Chief emphasized his dedication to upholding the highest standards of professionalism and ethics within the police force adding that mutual trust and collaboration are essential for maintaining law and order.
