Mmesomaq Ejikeme, the 19 year-old girl reported to have presented a false Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) result on social media has appeared before the House of Representatives, pleading for forgiveness.

The penitent girl has likewise written to JAMB in the same frame of mind and asked for leniency.

Ejikeme on Wednesday read a letter of apology before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee on the manipulation in Abuja.

She had claimed to score 362 points in the said exam, when in fact her actual score was 249 JAMB said.

She had further gone on to claim that the false score was indeed authentic and had been downloaded from the website of JAMB.

JAMB had however countered the claim, presenting due authentic documentation.

Mmesoma has however reaffirmed before the House of Representatives that her initial claims were false, that she regretted her actions, and had ccome to tender a ‘Letter of Profound Apology’.

“I humbly seek your forgiveness for the mistake I made. I sincerely agree that I got the JAMB result from another portal. In the course of this, I lambasted JAMB; I apologise,” she said.

“Words cannot describe the depth of pain in my heart. This is the first time I will be doing this, I have never engaged in falsification or any misdemeanour,” she said, adding that the act was completely out of character with her nature and standards.

She particularly apologised to JAMB for conduct capable of bringing the organisation into disrepute.

She further told the House of Representative that she had genuinely repented and resolved to turn a new leaf and become a better person.

“I want you to temper justice with mercy,” she pleaded.

JAMB has since withdrawn Ejikeme’s result and banned her from participating in its examinations for three years.

JAMB Registrar, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, said Mmesoma manipulated her result, aided by the centre where she wrote the exam, adding that the centre had been banned for aiding and abetting fraud.

He said, “Mmesoma’s case was (that of) an amateur, there was one falsification by a candidate that I almost went mad.”

The Chairman of the Committee, Sada Soli, urged Mmesoma to restitute her ways and not allow such misconduct again.

“You are one of the high scorers, don’t ever think of doing bad things to achieve anything ever again,” he said.
