The Igala Leadership Forum (ILF), a distinguished assembly of Igala elites representing all nine local governments, including Bassa, has thrown its weight behind Hon. Leke Abejide as its number one choice of candidate in the up- coming governorship elections in the state.

The ILF therefore urged the people of kogi state to excercise their voting rights in wisdom and to only vote a candidate who is capable of representing their interest and handling the responsibilities of the office.

In a statement issued on its behalf by Ibrahim OmaKoji, the ILF frowned on the high level poverty and insecurity in the state, as well as the slow rate of development.

The forum said in the statement, that the lack of competent and honest leadership by successive governors over the past two decades was the reason for the listed challenges.

The ILF stated that its desire to uphold the interest of the state and effect a positive impact on governance, led it to endorse the ADC, candidate

It pointed out that supporting Hon. Leke Abejide’s candidacy, aligns with its commitment to stand in solidarity with the people of Kogi West, who have consistently supported the Igala community.

It further avows to the extension of friendship and sensitivity shown by Hon.Leke Abejide to the Igala community, as well as his display of maturity in his responsible choice of words, through his refusal to utter demeaning and reckless statement against the largest tribe in Kogi.

The group kicked against the intentions of Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the SDP and Usman Jibrin of the Accord Party, firmly maintaining that the return of the Ebira community to Lugard House in January 2024 must not be allowed.

According to the group, Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the SDP and Usman Jibrin of the Accord party have both leveraged on the problems now facing the Igala kingdom in their selfish interests which do not align with the expectations of the Igala community.
