The Ministry of Physical Planning, Housing, Urban, and Regional Development has officially launched the long-awaited Operation Plan Edo Enforcement Exercise in specific areas of Benin City.

The announcement, signed by the Honourable Commissioner, Isoken Omo, states that the exercise will target unauthorized constructions in the Irihiri-Arougba and Sapele Road axis, including buildings without approval, structures on moats, Rights-of-Way, flood plains, under powerlines, and roads.

According to the statement, the Physical Planning enforcement teams have been tasked with identifying such structures and will take appropriate action, including marking, sealing, and, if necessary, removal.

Commissioner Omo urged residents in the targeted areas, who possess valid approval or conveyance letters for their buildings, to keep copies readily available for inspection by the officers during the enforcement exercise.

To ensure the smooth and efficient implementation of the initiative, Hon. Omo emphasized that the enforcement teams will be accompanied by security personnel. She further called upon the public to fully cooperate with these officials in their efforts to “Make Edo Great Again.”

Please be aware that Physical Planning enforcement teams will be re-commencing the Operation Plan Edo Enforcement Exercise from today Saturday July 22, 2023 in the Irihiri – Arougba and Sapele Road Axis. People building without approval, buildings on moats, Rights-of-Way, Flood plains, under powerlines and roads will be marked, sealed and/or removed. Everyone with valid approval/Conveyance letter is advised to make a copy available for viewing by the officers.
