Mobile telecommunications company MTN Nigeria has cried out over the continued dumping of refuse near its office along the Warri-Sapele Road at the Alaka Junction in Effurun, Delta State.

Community Liaison Officer of the company in the area, Mr Ochuko Akpomudje, described the situation as unfortunate and disturbing if not posing health hazards for staff and residents in the area.

Mr Akpomudje said he had complained to the Palace of the Ovie of Uvwie, Abe I, and the Unueuro of Alaka Community, Chief Hope Akasa.

He said the Unueuro promised to call the people of Alaka Community to order to stop dumping refuse beside the MTN premises, but wondered why the unwholesome attitude of the people persisted.

Mr Akpomudje also appealed to the Uvwie Council Chairman, Mr Ransom Onoyake, and the Environmental Special Taskforce in the council to assist in evacuating the ever-rising refuse.

It would be recalled that in a bid to keep Uvwie clean, the authorities of the council had sealed off some shops over illegal dumping of refuse along the road, just as the heap of refuse dumped beside the MTN office was cleared not long ago, before it resurfaced again.
