ROBINSON OJO, an upcoming gospel artiste who hails from Eguana in Orhionmwon LGA of Edo State, will be launching his debut album before the end of 2023. In this interview with AKPAN MICHAEL and FELICITY OGU, Ojo sheds light on his debut album, his musical career and what lies ahead. Excerpts:

Could you please tell us, how long have you been singing?

I started my musical career when I was in secondary school. However, I started my professional career in 2016. I do RnB praise genre. During the early days there was no much funds to produce tracks or albums. But now I have produced and I have an album.

Tell us about the album.

The album is my debut album, although I have been releasing demo tracks. The title of the album is “Hold on to God”. It has 8 tracks. There are no bonus tracks.

Who is the producer of the album, or do you produce yourself?

I do not produce music myself; I have someone producing for me. I have KJV in Benin and another producer in Abuja.

What inspired you to work on this album?

What inspired me was life itself – the different characters, lifestyles, attitudes of people that I noticed that made say that no one is above God and God is all. So, I just praise God. If you look at me, my stature, that also inspired me to sing for God and also to let people know about the work of God.

When will the album be released, and who are your target audience?

Well, my target audience is the general public. By the grace of God, I will be releasing the album by the end of this year. I’m also using this opportunity to solicit for help from Christians, the general public and the government to support my musical career.

Have you worked on any project before, and how has the audience been reacting to your songs?

Yes, I have worked on other singles before. As for audience reaction, mostly when I release a song, my friends listen to the song first and then help broadcast to other persons. I also post on my social media pages and I get likes from users.

How do you promote your songs?

I promote my songs through Audiomack and Naijaloaded.

How do you make money from the promotions?

For now, I’m not making any money. I only make money from programmes and shows.

Are you launching the album on digital stores?

No, I will be staging a live performance for it. I will also be doing the launch in my church, Adonai Fire Ministry.

Aside from this album, are you working on other songs?

Yes, I am currently working on other songs that will be in a new album aside from this one.

Are you signed to any record label?

No, I am not signed to any record label. I am an upcoming artist.

Aside from music, what else do you do?

I am a visual artist. I sketch.
