…attends traditional marriage of Justice Uwaifo’s daughter, Isoken

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has led government officials to pay their respects to the late Hon. Samson Abu, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oredo Ward 1, who passed recently at the age of 65.

Obaseki, at a burial ceremony for the late PDP leader in Benin City, described Samson Abu as a dedicated and trustworthy party man who never compromised the interest of the party.

He said, “Hon. Samson Abu was more than a leader in Oredo Ward One; he is a PDP leader in Edo State. In his lifetime, he ensured he worked tirelessly for the party. As long as he is in the field, things will go according to plan.”

Hailing his contributions to the unity and growth of the party in the State, Obaseki noted, “He is a party loyalist and fought for the interest of the party; he never compromised.”

He continued: “Most times when the party needed a trusted person in the collation center to protect the interest of the party, he was the person sent to act for the party.

“We will miss him. We know where he stands on issues. His loyalty to the party was 100 percent and was never ready to negotiate. This was why we had no hesitation whatsoever in the appointment he got to represent our interest as a party in the South-South Council or help us with the illegal logging in our forestry or other role he held while alive. We will surely miss him.”

The governor and his entourage also attended the traditional marriage ceremony of Mrs. Isoken Babatunde, the daughter of a former Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Samson Odemwingie Uwaifo who retired in January 2005.
