Residents of Patani Local Government Area of Delta State have been thrown into palpable fear of another devastating flooding following continuous downpour in the area.
One Mr. Douye, a resident of Patani, who lamented the ordeal he went through last year and how he lost his farmland and source of livelihood to flood, expressed worries over another bout of loss to flooding.
He said that as September approaches, residents were becoming sleepless since it was usually the yearly commencement of flooding in the area.
He called on the state government and other relevant authorities to act fast over the warning alert from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency indicating possible heavy flooding in 2023, by putting measures in place to prevent or, at least, mitigate the impact of the flood.
Most other residents in the area described the 2022 flood as a bitter experience they would not forget in a hurry, wondering how they would still weather another round of flooding this year.
