Nigeria rapper, singer and songwriter, Emeka Akumefule, known professionally as Blaqbonez, has said he appreciates plaques more than receiving awards.

The multi-talented Chocolate City signee revealed this in an exclusive interview on Cool FM with ex-Big Brother Naija housemate “Tacha”.

When asked by the host of the show what he felt having three nominations at the Headies, Blaqbonez replied, “I have had 10 nominations, zero wins.”

He went further to emphasise on how genuinely he did not care about awards anymore and how he was among the few people that had never celebrated any nominations.

“To be honest, it’s cool to give me an award and I will be happy about it but I feel like a plaque will be more important. Like a plaque you went gold in this country, that is pure love,” he said.

He said award is like putting people against each other to compete for something while plaques are open for everybody and everybody can easily get plaques without going against each other.

Recall that the rapper was nominated in three categories at the Headies Award, including Best Rap Single of the Year alongside Rapper Ladi Poe, Psycho YP and Odumodublvck .
