Arsenal kick start their bid to lift the Premier League this season defeating Nottingham Forest 2-1 in their first game of the new League season on Saturday.

After a disappointing 2022/2023 season which saw the Gunners lose narrowly to eventual winners Manchester City after topping the league for the majority of the season and a very busy transfer window, bringing players such as Kai Harvertz, Declan Rice, and Jurrien Timber, the Gunners were looking to start the season on a positive note, and that was the case, as they struck the back of the net courtesy of a shot by Nketia in the 25th minute.

A few minutes later Saka hit the ball spectacularly to take Arsenal 2-0 up.
In the second half, Nottingham Forest introduced substitutes – Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi and debutant Anthony Elanga as they sought to salvage the match.

Elanga and Awoniyi combined to draw one back for the Reds, as Elanga recorded a debut assist and Awoniyi who was Forest’s top scorer last season starts this season with a goal.
