Chelsea have reached an agreement with Southampton for Romeo Lavia in a deal that could be worth up to £58m.

Liverpool spent most of the summer pursing the young Belgian midfielder and seemed to have reached an agreement with Southampton at one point, but the former Manchester City man is set head to Stamford Bridge just days after Chelsea announced the signing of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo for British transfer record, Sky Sports reports.

Lavia moved to St. Mary’s from Manchester City 12 months ago in search of regular playing time and was a mainstay in Southampton’s Midfield as they suffered relegation to the Championship last season.
