The Chairman of the Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Hon. (Chief) Solomon Ighrakpata, has said the service would operate within the ambit of the law in generating and collecting of taxes in the state.

The chairman made the remarks when he received the leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association, Effurun Branch, in his office at the Revenue House in Warri on Monday.

Hon. Ighrakpata stated that revenue generation was central to development, noting that the service would continue to play its role as a critical partner in providing needed funds for the actualization of the MORE agenda of Governor Oborevwori.

The chairman noted that payment of tax was a mandatory, constitutional requirement of all income-earning citizens, promising to interface with the association in his quest to ensure that the revenue service operated within the ambit of the law.

While urging lawyers to pay their taxes and encourage their clients to do the same, Hon. Ighrakpata promised a robust, mutually beneficial relationship with the lawyers.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Effurun Branch, Barr. Ben Ubiowaro, stated that the visit was to congratulate Hon. Ighrakpata on his appointment and to explore areas of mutual cooperation with the revenue service.
