Ahead of the September 2nd, 2023 local government election in Edo State, Dr. Dorry Afe Efosa Okojie has urged the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC) to uphold the integrity of the electoral process, ensure free and fair poll.

It should be recalled that the state electoral body had earlier announced it would conduct local government election on September 2nd this year that would usher in chairmen and councilors across the 18 LGAs in the state.

The piece of advice was contained in a press release by Dr. Dorry Afe Efosa Okojie, a governorship aspirant for the 2024 Edo State governorship election under the Labour Party (LP).

According to him, “The upcoming election marks an important opportunity for the people of Edo State to exercise their democratic right and choose leaders who will drive the development and progress of local communities.

“I call on all political parties participating in this election to maintain decorum, uphold the highest standard of integrity and shun any form of electoral malpractice.”

He tasked all candidates to engage in a healthy competition that focuses on the well-being of their constituents.

Okojie also noted, “I implore the good people of Edo State to turn out in large numbers on September 2, 2023, to cast their votes for their preferred candidates.

“Your votes are your voices and together, we can shape the future of our communities,” he added.

He further reiterated the need for the electorate to be vigilant and ensure the process remain free, fair and transparent.

He expressed optimism in the ability of his party, the Labour Party, to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people, adding, “As an advocate for the common man and a representative of the Labour Party, I believe that our party holds the key to the hope and aspirations of the people.

“I humbly request that you consider supporting the Labour Party as we work tirelessly to uplift the life of every citizen and ensure equitable development across Edo State.

“Let us unite under the banner of ‘Obidient’. A symbol of obedience to the call of democracy and commitment to a better Edo State.

“Together we can achieve greatness,” Okojie added.
