Fans of Africa’s most popular reality TV show, Big Brother Naija, got more than they asked for on Sunday as the organisers of the All Stars edition poured additional fuel into the raging drama in the house with the latest plot twist of introducing four new housemates.
The fans, even though they knew that anything could happen in Biggie’s house, did not see it coming.
Since the show’s commencement on July 23, rumours of new housemates entering have sparked excitement and speculation. However, with these expectations taking too long in materialising, many had almost forgotten about it. They were, therefore, caught unawares when Lucy, Omashola, Kim Oprah and Prince were introduced to the show as new housemates. Lucy and Prince come from BBNaija Lockdown edition (season 5), while Omoshola and Kim Oprah were housemates during the season 4 of the show (Pepper Dem edition).
The new additions take the number of housemates to 21 after Princess, Uriel and Kiddwaya got evicted from the show.
Kiddwaya was evicted on Sunday, 20 August 2023 after he and Tolanibaj received the least number of votes from viewers out of the 15 housemates who were up for eviction.
Since only one of them could be evicted by the divine power of the jury, Kiddwaya was unanimously selected by the trio of Vee, Elozonam and Saskay for eviction, becoming the first male housemate to be evicted from the show this season.
Many had expected that Tolanibaj would be the third woman in a row to be evicted from the house after Princess and Uriel were axed in the second and third week, respectively. But it appeared that Vee and Saskay just couldn’t bear to see another woman go.
Despite his eviction, Kiddwaya said that he enjoyed his time on the show and that made some good friends as well. He also said that he was grateful for the support of his fans.
The introduction of new housemates took the existing housemates by surprise. Many of the housemates were beginning to get comfortable and count on their strong personalities as the numbers reduced. Alliances have been formed and rivalries have been established, with more on the way.
But now, the new development will likely alter the dynamics in the house, stir things up and create emotions. Long-time friends may be put to the test, while new relationships may form and change the balance of power.
So far, the other housemates have received the newest additions with open arms, screams and many thanks to Big Brother. They may begin to reassess their game strategies in anticipation of how these new additions could change the dynamics of the game and relationships in the house – and, more importantly, the race for the ultimate prize. Unknown to them, however, the new housemates will not get to compete for the grand prize.
Fans are keeping their fingers crossed as the show gets more interesting and the drama intensifies by the day.
