As Afrobeats continues to penetrate the global music space with its Afro-rhythmic sound, so its artistes are setting and breaking more records.

This week on the US Billboard Afrobeat song chart, Edo State’s very own Divine Ikubor, famously known as Rema, occupied the #1 position ahead of Wizkid and Burna Boy, who peaked at #5 and #6, respectively.

The popular singer has been on the positive side of news since rising to stardom, from serving his thirsty fans with mind-blowing hits, to shutting down multiple arenas and collaborating with ace singers in the music industry.

The singer released the ever-blazing album ‘Rave and Roses’ alongside the deluxe in which he featured songs like ‘Calm Down Remix’ that had fans going gaga over the songs.

The US Billboard Afrobeat song chart is a weekly record chart that reports the ranking of trending Afro-beat songs in the United States. It is calculated according to the number of streams a particular song accumulated on top streaming platforms.

The song ‘Calm Down’ featuring American singer Selena Gomez on the remix is currently #1 at the US Billboard Afrobeat Songs chart and is holding the spot for 50 weeks out of a total number of 73 weeks.

Cameroon singer Libianca peaked at #2 with the song ‘People’, while ‘Talliban II’ by Jamaican-born, St. Kitts-based dancehall singer Byron Messia, featuring the self-acclaimed African Giant ‘Burna Boy’, peaked at #3.

Afro-Soul singer Tems, Alternative singer and songwriter CKAY, YBNL signee Fireboy DML, and UK grime/drill rapper JHUS peaked at #4, #8, #9 and #10, respectively.

But DMW record boss Davido seems not to be on this week’s Top 10 list, despite ‘Timeless’ accumulating over 1 billion streams for its first fourth month of release and the leading hit song of the album ‘Unavailable’ making wave on socials.

In the same vein, YBNL record executive Olamide is missing on this week’s Top 10 US Billboard Afro-beat songs list as well. The singer and rapper recently dropped a 16-track album ‘Unruly’.
