…to provide coordination, expedition of action

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) held an emergency meeting in Abuja on Wednesday night to discuss issues including national security, fuel subsidy palliatives, a review of the National Executive Council agenda and a brief on the new Electricity Act, among others.

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, also attended the meeting. Ribadu’s presence is expected to bring co-ordination, reporting and expedition of action to the conference

Journalists were not allowed into the meeting which was chaired by AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Governor of Kwara State.

Other governors present were Babagana Zulum of Borno State, Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State, and Alex Otti of Abia State, among others.

Security watchers say the meeting would likely discuss the recent killing of at least 21 military personnel, including senior officers, by suspected bandits at Kundu via Zungeru in the Wushishi Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State.

Visiting troops in Niger State, following the said attack, Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja Chief of Army Staff (COAS), asked them to uphold morale and keep up the fight to maintain the peace and harmony of the nation.
