…as Amazons of Mass Comm clinch female soccer prize
TASA FC of the Department of Theatre Arts, University of Benin, on Friday defeated MASCA FC of the Department of Mass Communication to be crowned champions of the 2022/2023 edition of the Ekehuan Departmental Cup held at Maracana Pitch, Ekehuan Campus, University of Benin.
The final match was a thriller filled with dazzling performances from players on both sides.
Promise Olorunfemi of TASA FC scored the first goal of the match to open the game. However, a moment of brilliance from David Ogbulu of MASCA FC produced a spectacular goal that levelled the match.
At the end of a keenly contested 90+ minutes, the match ended in a 1-1 stalemate and advanced to penalties where TASA FC defeated the defending champions MASCA FC 7-6 to win the tournament.
In the same vein, the Amazons of Mass Communication defeated reigning champions Education ladies to win the female category of the competition. The match was won by a goal scored by Ruth of the Amazons.
The Ekehuan Department Cup is the biggest sports tournament in Ekenhuan Campus of UNIBEN held once in a school session where four departments – Mass Communication, Theatre Arts, Early Childhood Education and Fine Arts – compete for supremacy. The last edition was won by MASCA FC on penalties.
