In the other event unseeded Swiss Dominik Stricker stunned the 7th seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas 7-5 6-7 6-7 7-6 6-3 in a pulsating encounter to book a third round place.
This marks the biggest career win for the Swiss who made it to the US Open through qualifiers and has never gone beyond the second round of a grand slam events before.
