Novak Djokovic defeated American Ben Shelton 6-3 6-2 7-6 in straight sets at the Arthur Ashe court to reach his 10th final at flushing Meadows.

The 36 year old Serbian is aiming for a record extending 36th grand slam finals against his 20 year old opponent Ben Shelton who played in his first ever grand slam semi finals.

The young American was no match for the vastly experienced Djokovic who showed his intent from the onset to stamp his authority over the tie as he needed just 33 minutes to wrap up the the first set 6-3.

Djokovic continued his dominance through the second set, breaking Shelton’s as he broke twice to claim the second set 6-2.

The third set was a more evenly contested affair as the youngster showed his fighting spirit to take the third set to a tie break after initial break down.

Djokovic once again showed his composure in the tie breaks to win the break 7-4 and claim the set 7-6.

Djokovic’s quest for a forth US Open title and a record extending 24th grand slam continue on Sunday as he awaits the winner of the second semi finals between defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and former champion Daniil Medvedev.
