Djokovic progresses to the round of 16 at Flushing Meadows after surviving a major scare from his Serbian compatriot Laslo Djere to win the match 4-6 4-6 6-1 6-1 6-3.

Laslo started the match in stunning fashion to break Djokovic’s serve in the 9th game of the opening set to claim the set 6-4. He took the momentum to the second set and repeated the feat to equally claim the second set 6-4.

On the cusp of elimination, the Serbian tennis powerhouse showed the class and resilience that has become his trademark through the year to break Djere’s serve in the opening game of the third set.

This proved to be the turning point in the game as the 3 time US Open champion grabbed a foothold on the match to claim the third and the fourth set 6-1 respectively to force a fifth set.
