The football governing body of Nigeria, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the change of name for the country’s top-flight football league from Nigeria Professional Football League to Nigeria Premier Football League.

The new name was adopted at the 79th Annual General Assembly of the country’s football governing body in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Sunday.

The released communique by NFF reads: “The congress approved the change of name of the Nigeria Professional Football League to the Nigeria Premier Football League.”
