The Edo State Governor, Mr.Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated AVM Anthony Ebehijele Okpere (Rtd), the Edoghor of Uromi Kingdom, on his 80th birthday anniversary.
In a statement, Obaseki celebrated AVM Anthony Okpere for his remarkable contributions to the development of the State, as well as the unity and progress of the Country, praying that God grants him many more years in good health.
He said, “I extend hearty congratulations to one of Nigeria’s most outstanding and accomplished airmen, AVM Anthony Ebehijele Okpere (Rtd), the Edoghor of Uromi Kingdom as he joins the esteemed league of octogenarians.
“A respectable elder statesman, nation-builder and well accomplished philanthropist, you have continued to make immeasurable contributions to the growth and development of our dear State and Nigeria at large.”
Obaseki noted, “A highly decorated air warrior, you have given a good account of yourself, serving in various positions, including as Director of Operations (NAF HQ), Lagos; Air Officer Commanding (Training Command) Nigerian Air Force, Kaduna; member, Armed Forces Ruling Council (AFRC); Managing Director, Nigeria Airways Limited, and Aviation Minister (1986-87), building bridges of peace across the Country and advancing causes for the betterment of humanity and society.
“As you mark this day, I celebrate your undying love for the people of Esanland and Edo State and pray that God grants you many more years in good health, sound mind and happiness.”
